Wilford Brimley vs Mickey Rooney: 10 Rounds No Holds Barred

What say we do a little updating?
After all whats a month between friends?

I call this travesty of the written word...

Stuff I Like.... Stuff I Hate

Stuff I Hate:

I love the Tour de France. Which makes me one of 7 people in the continental US. I'm one of those poor jerks that started watching when Lance Armstrong was busy pissing off all of mainland Europe by completely owning one of their most treasured sporting events. I mean those people were seriously pissed that an American especially a Texan could dominate France's pride and joy for such a long period of time. And how funny was it to find out that he was the only one out of the entire batch that wasn't popping steroids like Pezz. Anyway what with the retirement of Armstrong and the banishment of some of the biggest names in the sport for doping the sport has certainly taken a back seat. Given the choice between advertising for one of only two major sporting competitions they have the right to air on their television station V.S has opted to spend the month of June removing their extra ear wax with a golf pencil instead. Honestly how many of you even knew the tour was going on, let alone some guy fell off the side of a mountain yesterday?

Stuff I Like

A week or two ago Comcast finally got around to rearranging their channels and out of the goodness of their hart they saw fit to give V.S a spot next to the other major sports channels. A spot next to ESPN can only mean good things for the NHL that sold its soul to the Bull Riding Network. After all when any ardent sports fan is given the choice between the World Series of Poker and a live sporting event featuring some of the most exciting young athletes in the world there is at least an outside chance that the NHL may be able to steal a few ratings points from the world wide leader in sports.

Stuff I Like

It was good to see the state senate put a little more effort into cleaning out some of the sidcars before passing the budget. When anything passes unanimously on the first try you know someone other than John Q Public is reaping the benefits. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that our current batch of State Reps are the most virtuous bunch but I do think they have a certain amount of fear of the public because of the backlash after the Midnight Raise Fiasco. Ah yes the power of the vote, I'm sure the public will stop paying attention sooner rather than later (if they haven't already) but a little transparency and a little fear in the minds of the government is always a good thing.

Stuff I Hate

Like I said transparency is a good thing. The problem is transparency isn't a terribly interesting thing. Take a time out from reading this post and turn on C-SPAN, go ahead the post will be waiting when you get back, just go spend a half hour watching the House floor debate. See you in Thirty minutes....................................................................... So how was you nap? Did you learn anything about your government? Yea I didn't think so. I'm pretty sure the government purposely makes their proceedings as boring as possible so the rest of us will fall asleep and they can do what ever the hell they want. It's kinda like not pulling out the good hooch until you drank the youngsters under the table using the bottom shelf booze. One of the few times I'll watch PCN (Pennsylvania CSPAN) is early July when they do the Gettysburg Battlefield Tours, their seriously like History Teacher Crack. July 1-2-3 of every year I sit on the couch for hours on end listening to Park Rangers in funny hats talk out the potential flanking maneuver of the Army's First Corps.

Ok I'll make you a deal; why don't you go take another nap and I'll just think about history stuff for the next half hour. Lets meet back here in say 35-40 minutes and we'll finish this train wreck.................................................................

And were back. So I'm watching the historical version of Crystal Meth when suddenly the State Budget Talks the historical equivalent of
Diethyl Ether bust in and completely destroys the first week of July for me. I know as a History teacher I should care but I'm giving serious thought to moving to the home district of the douche the kept on holding up the final vote just so I can vote his ass out.

I give up. How about we just phone it in for the rest of the post eh?

Stuff I Like

The Dark Knight -Wanna see a magic trick? nuff said

Winter Classic in Chicago- Screw the Rangers and Yankee Stadium. I can't wait for this game. The Blackhawks are a young team with some amazing talents and it's only a matter of time before they start beating the hell out of the Red Wings. Here's hoping it starts on January 1st

Artsfest- Always an amazing time, maybe some day I'll actually look at the art.

Penguins Re-Signings- Kudos to Shero. Fleury, Malkin, Orpik all amazing signings the rest of the gang were expendable. Think about our roster now and a year ago which one is better?

The Camping Trip- Awesome, every human being should be required to spend a weekend a month out in the woods with the cell phone off acting completely uncivilized

Steeler Camp- Thank god they'll be sports on TV again

Stuff I Hate

Penguins Free Agent Signings-
Satan = Overachieving Ryan Malone
Fedetinko = Underachieving Ryan Malone
Godard = Healthy Scratch
Pesonen = St Louis or
Alexandre Daigle?
Cooke- Not necessary a replacement for Rutuu but you can't go wrong with a nickname like CookieMonster

Hossa One Year Deal-
Searously What the hell? God I hope that team tanks.

Baseball Season-
Could they just do the Home Run Derby and skip the rest of the season?

The Green Bay Packers-
Just let Brett play wherever the hell he wants

The Casino-
This is why the Mafia should build all Casinos. Why didn't we let Rendell pick the winner? He's got connections.

Ok I give up, something new coming soon.

Peace Out Yo
