Brett Favre is the Brett Favre of Hockey

So the NFL may be willing to throw away a slightly used All-World player but that's just not our style in the sport of hockey. Yesterday's Superstar Power Forward is tomorrow's Back-checking Grinder/Healthy Scratch. You want to play hockey till your 50? We say go for it. If you don't mind a trip back to the minors you can play forever ( as I write this John Leclair is playing for a Junior High School team in Eastern New Jersey)

So if the NFL won't let Brett Favre play the AHL sure as hell will. Yesterday Steve Nitzel President of the Iowa Chops of the American Hockey League sent an official contract offer to Brett Favre’s agent, James ‘Bus’ Cook Jr. In the accompanying press release Nitzel had this to say about this potential high profile free agent signing;

“We live in a beautiful, Midwestern city here in Des Moines and play in a state-of-the-art major league venue at Wells Fargo Arena, so that meets Brett’s criteria of places to play,” ...“We wanted to be the first team to offer him something new and challenging, and I believe he will enjoy the thrill of raising the Calder Cup just as much as he did the Vince Lombardi Trophy back in 1997.”

“All we have to do is sharpen his skating skills and after that, his athletic instincts will take over and he’ll be one heck of a hockey player.”

Well think of it this way he can't be any worse of a hockey player than Jordan was a Baseball player. I for one think it's only a matter of time before this deal goes through, in fact I think I'm going to order my number 4 Chops jersey tomorrow this is a sure thing in my book.

peace out yo
