The Penn State Jedi

OK, You know I try to not post too many of my drunken college party stories but this one was too good not to share.

It was about 2 am and things were starting to slow down at my friend's costume party so we decided that it was time for a late night alcoholic walk through state college on a mission for very cheap greasy pizza. We started with a group of five or six but it's impossible to keep a posse of drunks together so by the time we made it to Beaver Ave. there were only two of us left me dressed as Shaun of the Dead and Tom dressed as Frank Sinatra. So we're walking down the road singing Sinatra songs (poorly) to anyone who wants to hear and everyone that doesn't, when suddenly we see someone with a toy lightsaber running down the middle of the street. He runs right up to us then says " I'm a Jedi follow me to beer" We follow him down the street to an apartment building where he used the Force to open the elevator then took us to his friends party were they still had a full keg and greasy pizza. That's why I love this place, it truly is the Happy Valley you can meet new friends on the street at 2 in the morning and they will gladly give you beer and pizza.

Thank You Penn State Jedi, and wherever you are I hope the hangover wasn't too bad

- peace out yo
and may the force be with you

A Bright Spot

You might have noticed that I haven't posted anything about hockey for a few weeks. Well that's because my team was expected to be a Stanley Cup contender and in three weeks of competition they haven't won a game. I'm sure everyone back in the burgh is having a tough time with this but hey at least you don't live in a city were half the population are flyer's fans. It's been a miserable month to be a Pen's fan in The Happy Valley but have no fear there is a bright spot.

Good News Every Body! The Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins our AHL team is undefeated on the season, a perfect 7-0 and in first place in the League. The Baby Pens have out scored their opponents 34-12 and have three players ranked in the top 10 scorers in the league. I know it's not the NHL but I'll take what I can get. Check out the Baby Pens at
www.wbspenguins.com I hope that brightens up everybody's day a little bit and I'm sure Sidney and Company will get their act together real soon.

Costume

i think i found my costume...... Shaun of the Dead and i've suckered my friend tim into coming up for the weekend to be Ed. if anyone has a better idea post quickly or forever hold your peace. i still need a few ideas for the costume, like where i can find a cricket bat ( or should a have a cricket bat while drinking). i know i'm gonna make a shaun name tag and stick a dart in my head and get a lot of fake blood. but i could still use some more ideas and make-up tips (biz this is all you)

that's it for now

Bad Weekend

Do you know how to tell if you've had a bad Weekend?

Here's a little trick

If you can truthfully say the following statement your weekend did not go well...

Well at least I won't have to get another Tetanus shot in the next ten years

I Had A Bad Weekend, More on this story at a later date

Peace Out Yo

The 2008 Election Clem vs Mr. Pink

Emergency! Halloween is only two weeks away and I'm still without a costume idea. There are going to be some huge parties that weekend and a lame costume (or no costume at all) is just not an option. So I turn to all of you ( but especially Biz) I need the greatest costume idea ever but remember I'm a poor college student. Help!

In other news I've made my pick for the 2008 presidential election. Christopher Walken! That is..... unless Steve Buscemi decides to run.

Buscemi in 08 Baby!

Pandemonium

I can't even begin to explain what just happened in State College . I just wish everyone could have been here and experienced the Happy Valley last night / this morning. I did'nt get to sleep until 6 this morning so I'm just gonna post a few stats and quotes then go back to bed.

A few figures that count
144 hours at Paternoville
109,839 rain-soaked fans
A coach with 349
And a final score of 17-10

Quotes:

M- Rob
Senior, Quarterback
On the fans:

It was so loud in there. It got so loud I had to tell them to quiet down a little bit because the offensive line couldn'nt hear me talk. They were doing a great job for us.”

On going to a bowl game:
“This team deserves this. We just have to keep working hard and keep our minds focused on our goals, and the goal is to be in Pasadena.”

Tamba Hali
Sr./Sr. DE
Q: Can you talk about the crowd?
That'’s the reason I came to Penn State, for our fans. They support us every time they'’re here. They have been here since Sunday, and when we get on the field, we can do nothing less except play all out.

Deon Butler
Freshman, Wide Receiver
On the crowd:
The crowd was great. Their offense was calling timeouts; they couldn'’t hear things. Their defenders sometimes were trying to yell checks to each other and couldn'’t hear them. The crowd definitely got us going. When they are on your side, it makes it that much easier because you know if you make a good catch here or there and you know they are going to be right behind you It'’s crazy itt goes from dead silence to pure pandemonium.”

JoePa
Q: What do you think this means to the university and what it was like to have 109,000 people in the stadium?
The thing I have always wanted with Penn State football was that I wanted people to feel good not only about the winning but about the way we win. I have always tried to have a lot of hot dogging and allow us to be lousy sports. Some of this will have a lot to do with people being proud of the university and the things that we stand for. The students were absolutely unbelievable. In all the years I have been here, I have never seen more spontaneous enthusiasm and wanting to help.

We Are Penn State and We're Going to Passadina To Beat USC In The Rose Bowl

Paternoville

I'm not sure if you guys living outside of the Happy Valley have heard this story yet so I thought I'd share. Sometime early Sunday morning a shanty town emerged outside of Gate A of Beaver Stadium since that morning the tent city appropriately named Paternoville has grown to over 50 tents. Paternoville has become the center of pregame hysteria and has received some pretty prestigious visitors in the last week, members of the team have brought pizza to the campers on a couple occasions, jopa and the dean stopped in wednesday night, and this morning woody page from espn's cold pizza brought them doughnuts.

Speaking of cold pizza i went to the live taping this morning and stood out in the rain for three hours while yelling at the top of my lungs. I got to meet woody and jay and got a photo with each of them. i'll post those pics just as soon as my camera dries out. in a not quite related story i saw a guy bite the top of a beer can this morning, it was an inspiring act ( and jay gave him a free t-shirt) We invited woody to our kegger tonight but he declined, he says he's gonna hit up the bar scene instead. We'll give him a pass this time since he drank the beer we gave him on stage.
I'm gonna stop for now cause i need to rest up for the rest of the weekend, the party starts again at 7:00 and doesn't stop till sunday.

Here's a few pics of cold pizza and paternoville.
peace out yo
lets go state!
